Talk, listen & be heard
The Nyzaverse comes alive when you can hear it. Here's how proximity voice, your microphone, text chat, and the audio mixer all work — and how to fix the small things when they don't.
How voice chat works
Voice in the Nyzaverse is proximity-based — you hear the people near you and they hear you, just like talking in a real room.
How do I talk to someone?
Just walk up to them. When you're close enough you'll hear each other automatically — there's nothing to dial or connect. Step away to leave the conversation; the voices fade as you walk apart, exactly like real life.
Why do voices get quieter as I move away?
That's proximity voice working as intended. The closer you are to someone, the louder they sound; as you walk apart their voice fades out, so a crowded plaza feels alive without everyone talking over each other. Drift back together and the volume comes right back up.
Can I talk to the whole island at once?
Yes. Tap 📞 Join Call to drop into an island-wide group call. Unlike proximity voice, a call you join never drops or fades as you roam — you stay connected to everyone in the call wherever you wander. It ends only when you choose to hang up.
My microphone isn’t working
Almost every mic issue comes down to a browser permission. Here's how to get yours flowing.
The Nyzaverse never asked for my microphone
Your browser asks the first time you actually speak, so try talking once — a permission prompt should appear. When it does, choose Allow. If nothing pops up, your browser may have remembered an earlier choice; see below to re-enable it.
I accidentally blocked the microphone
No problem. Click the padlock(or camera) icon in your browser's address bar, find the microphone setting, and re-enable it for nyzaverse.com. Then refresh the page so the world picks up the change.
It is allowed but still silent
Two quick things to check: make sure the right input deviceis selected (some headsets and webcams add their own mic), and confirm you're not muted. Toggling your mute and speaking again usually does the trick.
I can’t hear anyone
If the world feels silent, run through these in order.
Check your volume and the browser tab
First, turn your device volume up. Then make sure the browser tab itself isn't muted — a small speaker icon shows on a muted tab, and clicking it un-mutes the page.
Remember voice is proximity-based
Because you only hear people who are near you, standing alone means silence is normal. Walk over to a cluster of avatars and you'll start hearing them as you get close.
Just one person is silent
If everyone else sounds fine but a single person doesn't, they've most likely muted their own mic. There's nothing to fix on your end — ask them to check their microphone.
Text chat
Prefer to type? Every world has full text chat sitting right alongside voice.
How do I open chat?
Press T, or tap the 💬 button, to open the chat panel. Type your message and send — emoji are welcome too.
What are the chat channels?
There are three. World is the room everyone can see, Nearby reaches just the people around you, and direct messages let you write privately to anyone currently connected.
Can I send emoji?
Absolutely — emoji work in every channel, from the World feed to a one-on-one direct message.
The audio mixer & muting
Want music low but voices clear? The mixer gives you separate control over every kind of sound.
Where is the audio mixer?
Open ⚙ Settings → Audio mixer. You'll find three independent volume sliders.
What can I control?
Three separate volumes: Music, World sounds, and Voice. They're fully independent — muting one never touches the others, so you can silence the soundtrack and still hear every word.
Can I mute one video screen?
Yes. Each video screen has its own local 🔇 / 🔊 mute button. It only affects what you hear — everyone else keeps watching and listening as normal.
